Dog tricks

by wrinkler on August 25, 2010

Buster is a creature of habit. He needs to go out six times a day:
1. First thing in the morning right after he eats. He would eat with all four legs tied in a knot if he had to, because nothing is more important than that small pile of brown pellets.
2. A little while later, [...]

Fruit season

by wrinkler on July 22, 2010

There are actually only three seasons in Oregon: soup season, salad season, and fruit season.
Soup season occurs from late September until June. Or July. Whenever the furnace finally stops coming on in the morning. The hallmark characteristic of soup season is a deep human need for warm food because it’s so fricking cold and damp [...]

Central heating as a measure of mental health

by wrinkler on July 1, 2010

I used to be such a hard burro about the furnace. I wouldn’t turn it on until November 1, and I refused to leave it on past March.
Dammit, I figured, there’s a reasonable heating season. And the weather should bend to my will.
So I was cold. A lot. Years ago,  I would sit in front [...]

Weekend

by wrinkler on June 28, 2010

Oh my. Short version:
Nurse Tattoo was in in town. Now she’s gone again. Sigh.
Buster was beside himself with ecstasy at NT’s presence. He turns into a lovesick limpet when she’s around, clinging to her side. Imagine a 9 year old boy with a deep crush and no impulse control. It’s embarrassing to watch.
We all went [...]

Ex-movie Snot Recommends #12b

by wrinkler on June 18, 2010

Last night, to celebrate the end of the school year, Dancing Fairy and I went to a movie. We bought tickets to see IronMan 2, but between the ticket booth and the ticket taker guy, we decided to see this instead:

It was a good choice.
I like martial arts films. Not all of them, and [...]

Waiting for sunny patches

by wrinkler on June 17, 2010

While sitting at the dropzone, waiting for patches of blue sky that are big enough to fall through, we tell jokes. Some are so crass that I try to forget them as soon as I hear them.
And some are really good.
Did you hear about the new virus in birds?
It’s called chirpies.
It’s a canarial disease.
And it’s [...]

The morning after

by wrinkler on June 15, 2010

Yesterday morning, B and Mr. M went for a walk in the park near our house. They do this often, but yesterday was the day after the first sunny weekend. Think lots of people. Having lots of picnics. With lots of food.
Not all of which made it into people’s stomachs or garbage cans.
Buster is a [...]

Pomp circumstances

by wrinkler on June 14, 2010

What a great weekend!
This picture includes 4/7 of why it was such a fun time. The missing elements are my sister, my brother-in-law, and My Seestah’s significant other.
FMD is my niece. Full Meal Deal. I’m telling you, girlfriend is missing nothing. In addition to her gorgeousity, which is less evident in this picture than it [...]

Goat and cat

by wrinkler on June 9, 2010

Another guest photographer!
This image was taken by Dancing Fairy on her spring break trip to Hawaii with her dad. I love this picture.
This is at a goat dairy farm (dairy goat farm?). The cat scores the last bit of milk in the trough.
I totally understand the look on the goat’s face. I’ve been there myself.

Shower clowns

by wrinkler on June 8, 2010

In the interest of not droning on incessantly about things that happen 5,000-13,500 feet above ground level (you should be SO glad that you don’t live with me), I’m sharing a photo that Mr. Music took yesterday.
This is beautiful, no? It’s the late afternoon sun (yes, SUN. SSSSUUUUNNNN!!!) shining on shower thingies in our downstairs [...]
