Hard body tent

by wrinkler on September 24, 2009

Judie and I went camping for two days in the north Georgia woods.

The day we got there, it was pouring rain and foggy. Getting to the mountains was like driving inside a wet gray sock. The only thing the weather had going for it was not being cold.

This is Judie after we got there. I took this picture in the middle of the day. And the flash went off.

She was sitting under the awning of the hard body tent. That’s what my nephew Michael calls it. As an archeologist, he’s pretty much an expert in the types of housing found in the woods.

Judie’s hard body tent has power steering, a kitchen,  a very comfy bed, and a DVD player. After dinner, we watched the longest movie in history, made all the longer by being in Swedish with subtitles. Ironically, it was called Everlasting Moments.

I didn’t make that up. The real name is “Maria Larssons eviga ögonblick.”  Of course, it seems a little fishy that Maria Larsson = everlasting and eviga ögonblick = moments. But that’s just because I don’t speak Swedish. Probably Ingmar Bergman = fleeting and Britt Ekland = intermittent.

Anyhoo, the next day, this is what we could see.

And we could see it wherever we looked.
